It's been a well kept secret that there is some amazing talent among our boat club members. Who would have known that once the lights go down, and the wine starts flowing, that the inhibitions some members had flew right out the window. Take Erik DeSimone, for example, up he walks to center stage and starts to belt out an amazing rendition of
"Stray Cat Strut".
Erik followed up later in the evening with Josh Grobin's "To Where You Are" as well as joining the ladies for some entertaining songs like
"I'm Too Sexy".
"New York, New York" brought up a good size crowd, and not all New Yorkers either. Barb Bowden brought some friends who like to perform. They hit us with
"Stop in the Name of Love" and a few others.
Fawn with her lovely voice sang "Unforgettable" and even got the Rev. up to perform with her,
"I've Got You Babe". Our Karaoke host, Glenn Vandewater, started the evening off with some songs to
help ease the way up to the mic. By the end of the evening even our unwilling members like Tony Evans could be seen singing from the back row with a smile on his face to Who Let the Dogs Out. (Huh, Huh)
Words could not express the sight of some of our manly men, costume hats on their heads, giving YMCA their all. It was a sight to see, and the audience cheered them on while trying their best not to laugh.
Almost everyone took a turn at the TV screen, mic in hand, some singing better than
others, but no one left at the end of their song without a tremendous round of applause from the crowd. Because if not, when it was their turn....
A final comment from Fawn because she can't help herself...
a great big thanks to Glenn for carting all his equipment
(and his karaoke stuff too ha ha ha) from his home to the
party and back, and especially for being 3 hours EARLY! It
must be the Viking Blood in ya man!
